Fahm ("the app") helps you learn the meaning of what you say in prayer. We collect as little as possible. You do not need an account, and we never ask for your name, email or phone number.
Your lesson progress, streak, chosen goal and reminder time are stored only on your phone. Daily reminders are scheduled on your phone; no server sends them.
We record anonymous events such as "lesson completed" or "paywall shown" to understand which parts of the app help people and where they get stuck. These events are linked to a random identifier, not to you, and we do not build profiles of individuals. This is handled by PostHog (hosted in the EU).
If the app crashes, a technical report (device model, operating system version, app version and the error) is sent to Sentry so we can fix it. Crash reports do not include personal information.
Subscriptions are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see your payment details. RevenueCat helps us check whether your subscription is active, using an anonymous identifier and your purchase receipts.
Fahm is promoted with ads on Instagram and Facebook. After onboarding, the Android app asks whether we may measure those ads. Only if you choose "Allow", the app tells Meta that it was installed and opened, that onboarding and the first lesson were completed, and (through RevenueCat) whether you started a trial or bought Premium. This uses your device's advertising ID and an anonymous Meta identifier, so Meta can tell which ads work and show them to similar people. We never share what you learn or anything that identifies you by name. If you choose "No thanks", nothing is sent to Meta. You can change your answer at any time in Settings → Ad measurement, and you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings. Meta processes this data under its own privacy policy (facebook.com/privacy/policy).
Word recitations are streamed from the Quran.com content network. Like any website, it receives your device's IP address when audio is loaded.
We do not sell data, show ads in the app, or use your location. Apart from the ad measurement above, which you choose, we share nothing with advertisers.
The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
You can turn off notifications in your phone's settings, and ad measurement in Fahm's Settings, at any time. Deleting the app removes all data stored on your device.
To delete your data from Fahm: Understand Your Salah:
Deleted on request: usage events (PostHog), crash reports (Sentry) and the subscription status record (RevenueCat). Data Meta received for ad measurement is handled by Meta; turn ad measurement off and reset your advertising ID to stop it being linked. Kept: purchase records held by Apple or Google under their own policies, and anything the law requires us to keep for tax purposes.
